Implementing pixels in Display & Video 360

Implementing AudienceReport pixels in DV360 needs to be done for each individual creative.

We strongly recommend using our integrations, as they facilitate this process. However, if you prefer to implement AudienceReport pixels yourself, then follow this quick guide.

First of all, create the items that you want to measure in AudienceReport through DV360. To do this, please read more info about how to create custom items and how to add pixels to your custom items.

Once you have created the items, on the left side menu, select “Google Display&Video 360” as your ad server. You will need different tags based on creative type (see below)

Then, in the upper right corner click on “Download tags”.

Once you have created all the pixels you need in AudienceReport for tracking DV360, you have to log in to your DV360 account and navigate to the advertiser’s account you want to measure with AudienceReport. Then go to your creatives, and select the creative you want to measure.

Tracking display campaigns

For tracking display campaigns, go to ‘Creative details’ and select the section 'Additional details’.

Tick off the box ‘Append HTML tracking tag’ and paste the HTML: Impression or Script HTML tag format into the field that will appear.

Then simply save the creative, and you are all set!

The same creative can be added to multiple campaigns. If you add a pixel on Creative it will be fired for e.g. Campaign 1 and 2 which will lead to invalid measurement. To avoid this issue, create campaign-specific copies of creatives to avoid sharing

Tracking video campaigns

If you want to track a video campaign, go to creative details and go to the section named ‘Serving properties’. Here click ‘Add URL’. This will by default create an impression event for your video creative.

Click on the field ‘URL-required’ and paste your AudienceReport impression pixel in format Pixel: Impression

You can also add additional video events to your creative, by adding more URLs and editing the events from the list i.e. a midpoint (video 50%) or a complete event (video complete). Make sure to paste in the AudienceReport pixels that match your event type.

Now save the changes to your creative - and you are all set!

The same creative can be added to multiple campaigns. If you add a pixel on a creative and add the creative to 2 different campaigns, the measurement will be invalid. This happens because the creative’s pixel is fired on two campaigns. To avoid this issue, create campaign-specific copies of Video creatives.
You must not add AudienceReport pixels to creatives that will run on YouTube line items, because that will prevent them from being served. You need to make a clone of the creative for it to be served on the Web. You can read more about the YouTube integration through AudienceReport here.
For video campaigns with creatives hosted in Campaign Manager, please make sure to add the tracking pixels in Campaign Manager and not in DV360. Tracking implemented in DV360 for Campaign Manager-hosted video creatives will not work.
