What is the Display & Video 360 (DV360) integration?

General Information

AudienceReport Next integration with Display & Video 360 allows you to measure DV360 campaigns with ease. The integration makes all your DV360 insertion orders available in the new generation of AudienceReport as Items and their Line items as sub-items, where you can choose which ones to measure.

Please note that this integration will only measure campaigns running on web and in-app environments — not YouTube. DV360 integration enables you to measure impressions and video pixels. If you want to integrate DV360 for YouTube measurement, please follow this article.

Once the integration is set up, all creatives that belong to Insertion Orders eligible for measurement will automatically get an AudienceReport Next pixel.

How does it work?

The DV360 integration is responsible for setting up AudienceReport pixels on all creatives eligible for AudienceReport measurement connected to your selected DV360 advertisers.

To achieve this, the integration launches a tagging process approximately every hour.

It performs the following steps:

In “Measure all Insertion Orders” mode (aka. Auto mode):

  1. Finds Active and Future Insertion Orders
  2. Finds creatives that belong to these Insertion Orders
  3. Filters out creatives opted out from being measured
  4. Adds necessary AudienceReport pixels to these creatives
  5. Creates these Insertion Orders as top-level Items in AudienceReport and their Line Items as sub-items

In “Measure Selected Insertion Orders” (aka. Manual mode):

  1. Finds Active and Future Insertion Orders marked with [AudienceReport] Note
  2. Finds creatives that belong to these Insertion Orders
  3. Filters out creatives opted out from being measured
  4. Adds necessary AudienceReport pixels to these creatives
  5. Creates these Insertion Orders as top-level Items in AudienceReport and their Line Items as sub-items

The integration sets the following tracking properties:

  1. HTML tag
  2. Impression pixel
  3. Video events
The integration does not remove anything from creative nor does it override. It always appends pixels, which means that the integration will add new pixels instead of overriding the current ones.

After the integration is activated, the needed tags will be created as described above and the items will be synchronized to AudienceReport. After that, synchronization cycles happen approximately every hour.

Enabling measurement in Selected Insertion Orders mode

Go to the Insertion Order Details page and expand the Additional settings section. In the Integration Code field, update Detail and write [AudienceReport] there. If you already have something in that field, you can just append this string.

Then the next time when integration performs taggings, it will pick up this Insertion Order and add tracking tags to all Creatives assigned to Line Items on this Insertion Order.

Opting out Line items and Creatives from Measurement

You can instruct the integration not to measure specific Insertion Order, Line Item or Creative. To do that, add the [AudienceReport=Off] string to the corresponding Integration Code Details field. So, to disable the Line Item, you need to:

  1. Go to the Line Item Details page
  2. Expand the Additional settings section.
  3. In the Integration Code field, update Details and write [AudienceReport=Off] there.  If you already have something in that field, you can just append this string.
If you need to exclude something from measurement, you must do it before enabling the integration OR during creating the Insertion Order, Line Item or Creative. Once the integration adds measurement tags, you can delete them manually. When done so, the integration will not re-add measurement tags.

Limitations

  • If your Creative is used on a YouTube line item and it receives an AudienceReport tag, then it will stop serving on YouTube. To overcome this issue, you need to make a copy of the creative for YouTube
  • Video creatives synced from Campaign Manager can not be measured with the integration, as DV360 does not allow setting Third-party pixels for Campaign Management hosted video creatives.

Common questions

What happens when I delete or disable the integration?

Measurement tags, that the integration added previously, will be kept on the creatives, therefore impressions will continue to flow into AudienceReport and your reports will be updated.

However, if new Creatives / Line items / Insertion Orders are created in your DV360 Advertiser, they will not be measured.

There is no way to remove AudienceReport measurement tags automatically. If you need to do that, you will need to open each Creative and delete the AudienceReport code from the Tracking tag for Display creatives and Third-party pixels for Video creatives.

How can I check if integration tagged my campaign correctly?

You need to check all Creatives on your Insertion Order.

For the Display, in the Additional details section, you will see the Append HTML tracking tag checkbox checked and the HTML code that looks like below:

For the Video, in Serving properties you should see AudienceReport pixels for different video events, as shown below
