What is the Meta integration?

General Information

The Meta integration in AudienceReport Next is an integration that allows automatic measurement of campaigns on Meta’s different platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. When the integration is set up, you allow AudienceProject to measure campaigns on connected accounts and compare the results across different platforms. Please make sure that if you use external Facebook accounts in your agency they have given explicit consent to allow AudienceProject access to the campaign data.

Please note that you will not be able to see the different platforms of the Meta universe as individual lines. This means that both your Instagram and Facebook results will be displayed as “Meta” on AudienceReport. You can, however, see the individual performance of Instagram and Facebook on your ad server platform.

The Meta integration in AudienceReport Next makes it possible to measure Facebook campaigns on multiple different demographic segments such as:

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Income
  • Household size
  • Educational level

How does it work?

When using the Meta integration a request is sent to Facebook, which then creates a so-called ‘study’ that is unique to Audienceproject. Studies as a concept is an internal Meta definition that allows third-party measurement companies to get exposure data on a single-panelist level leveraging a privacy-safe panelist matching technique between AudienceProject and Meta. Once a study is created, AudienceProject receives daily data on active campaigns.

A Study has a duration (3 months) and target (accounts or campaigns). To calculate a report on Facebook campaigns we need to have studies that cover the whole reporting period.

Study creation is automated, happening close to real-time, and maintains study coverage automatically. You won't need to wait for manual study creation and any possible delays during this process won't affect reporting consistency.

It's important to be aware of the following study-related details:

  • Study output files can't be retained by AudienceProject for longer than 90 days after the last delivery.
  • We can't request studies covering a period of more than 365 days in the past. As a result, some studies may expire, making certain reports irrecoverable.
  • We can’t create studies covering periods of more than 180 days in the future. If your report requires studies for a longer timeframe, the request will not be processed right away, but our automation will handle it when the time comes.

Reporting

It is possible to add multiple Campaigns into one report (note: there is a limit of 10 Meta items in one report). All Facebook campaigns are grouped into a single Channel on AudienceReport, and it is possible to get its contributed reach on the channel. For each campaign under the channel, it is possible to see reach, reach in TG, impressions, impressions in TG, profile, hitrate etc.

It is important to know the following things about our Meta reports:

  • You can report up to 12 weeks in a single report
  • Reach building is an event based on Impressions only
  • To calculate reports we must have active studies covering the whole reporting period. If not, the report calculation will fail.
  • When pulling a report, you will not be able to see the Meta data immediately, unless a “study” has been requested. After you add Meta items to a report we immediately request studies for the Meta items included in the report. The data will appear in the report in 1-3 days (when the study becomes Active)
  • After one of the studies has been requested, the next time you request a report it will be generated faster.
  • We update Meta figures in reports once per day, around lunchtime.

Common questions

What happens if I disable or delete the integration?

When Integration is disabled, then:

  • Existing Items remain in the system
  • New items will not appear
  • It is possible to create new Reports based on the existing Items
  • Existing reports are still recalculated daily
  • Customers can push existing Reports to Techedge

If the integration is deleted or interrupted, the Facebook Ad account connection is closed or its owner revoked AudienceProject access to it. In this case:

  • Existing Items remain in the system
  • New items will not appear
  • If Items are added to a Report, the report calculation will fail
  • Existing reports remain in the system, and customers can access data. Change of target audience or period will lead to the Report calculation failure.
  • On the existing reports, if other Items on the Report are getting new data, the Report will be recalculated without getting new FB data since the integration Deletion / Interruption date.
  • Customers can not push reports to Techedge.
