Implementing click trackers

Some Adserver-systems need a redirect and a landing page in order to make a click tracking work.

Implementing click trackers in ad servers, other than Sizmek and DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP)

In most ad servers, it is possible to implement a click pixel, without any additional formatting, in the intended click container.

Click trackers in Sizmek and DFP

If you are using Sizmek or DFP as your ad server, you need to reformat your tracking pixel before you implement it. Here is a quick guide on how to format a click tracker for implementation in Sizmek and DFP.

Here is the format for click pixels in Sizmek and DFP:

https://visitanalytics.userreport.com/redirect.html?t=TCODE&event=click&landing=LANDING_URL

You will need to replace TCODE with the t-code from your original pixel and LANDING_URL with the landing URL the click should land on.

For Sizmek it is important that you leave the landing page section open as you will need to add your landing page URL in the destination URL container. This means that nothing should be inserted after ";".

In Google DFP/tag managers you will need to add the landing URL both in the destination container and as part of the pixel as shown above.

The landing page is simply the website where you want users to land after clicking your ad. An example could be http://www.audiencereport.com

The t-code is found at the end of the tracking pixel created in AudienceReport. In the below example your t-code is XXX123456:

Implementation in Sizmek

As explained above, the click tracking format for Sizmek looks like this:

https://visitanalytics.userreport.com/redirect.html?t=TCODE&event=click;

This click tracker should be sent to Sizmek, or implemented directly in the system.

While the click tracker will need to be formatted before being implemented in Sizmek, the impression pixel can be inserted directly from AudienceReport. Please see example below:

Implementation in DFP

If you prefer using a click tracking macro in DFP, you can should use the DFP click macro for third-party code. You will then need to work with the creative providers and check for the correct placeholder for the click macro in the tag. Once the click macro is implemented in the tag, DFP will count the clicks accurately upon performing the click actions on the creative. Here is a sample code for reference purposes:

<a href="%%CLICK_URL_UNESC%%https://visitanalytics.userreport.com/redirect.html?t=TCODE&event=click;https://www.audienceproject.com/" target="_blank">

<div style="width:728px; height:90px; position:absolute;z-index:100005">

</div></a>

<iframe height="90" width="728" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/gtech-pds-hyd/Brindha9/2017/August/Bold_728x90_111015.gif" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
